Full Time Afternoon Maintenance/Custodian

Custodian Position

This position provides general custodial/maintenance services for Leland Public School and reports to the Director of Facilities and Transportation. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, student-centered and solutions-oriented mindset, experience in custodial and maintenance work, good habits, character, and attendance records, a strong work ethic, discretion, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. CDL driver certification is preferred but not required.

Required duties include performing various maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors and other surfaces, cleaning and dusting furniture and fixtures, washing light fixtures, replacing light bulbs/tubes, moving furniture and equipment, shoveling snow, maintaining landscaping and exterior building maintenance, collecting and disposing of trash, locking/unlocking doors and windows, turning off unnecessary lighting, cleaning and servicing lavatories and locker rooms, washing interior and exterior glass, reporting items that require repair, following work schedules, coordinating work with supervisor and staff, assisting with school electronic controls systems, guarding property against fire, theft, and illegal entry, maintaining and operating equipment, vacuuming, spot cleaning, and extracting carpet, and performing all other custodial/maintenance duties as assigned.

Expectations include compliance with District policies, following the same code of conduct as teachers and staff members, appropriate use of language and dress, prohibition of use or influence of alcoholic beverages or mood altering substances, and performing any other appropriate duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

Salary is $22.00 - $25.00/hour or more based on previous experience plus State of Michigan retirement benefits and full family medical, dental, and vision. Benefits include 10 paid holidays, 12 paid sick days, 2 paid personal days, 10 vacation days. This is a full-time, full-year position with an afternoon shift. Posting is open until filled.
