Description
Full-Time School Bus Driver
Provides transportation support for a complete range of curricular and extra-curricular activities offered by the District's schools; safely operates a school bus or other District vehicle that transports students to and from schools, and supports participation in school activities.
Reports To: Director of Transportation & Maintenance
FLSA Status: Non-exempt, daily rate based on the bus route (regular route is $100.25 per day)
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must hold a valid state-issued CDL- Class B Drivers' License with Endorsements P and S or reasonable assurance of obtaining a CDL- Class B Drivers' License with Endorsements P and S
- Must be able to pass and maintain a DOT physical
- Must be able to pass a DOT drug screen and will be subject to random DOT drug testing
- Complete and pass an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR course
- Pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening test
- Will be subject to random drug/alcohol testing programs
- Display sound judgment and flexibility to change
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)
Essential Functions:
- Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses
- Practice good public relations and be a positive representative of the school system
- Keep the assigned bus clean
- Performs pre-checks and post-checks of the assigned bus before and after each operation for mechanical defects
- Check assigned bus for gas and oil; wash (cleaning inside and out) and report other mechanical failures to the Director of Transportation & Maintenance
- Transports only authorized students
- Enforce the district's behavior code for bus drivers
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and maintain confidential information
- Supervise students and maintain discipline on the bus
- Assist with minor maintenance and grounds projects within the district
- Report all accidents and complete required reports
- Perform such other related duties as assigned by the district administration
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit and talk or hear
- Required to use their hands and fingers
- Specific vision abilities include, but are not limited to, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- May be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend
- Must work indoors, outdoors, and in all weather conditions
- Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions
- Work in and around dust, fumes, and odors
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal indoor levels, outdoor levels, and on the telephone
- Ability to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen, and print material with or without vision aids
- Ability to manually lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds
Terms of Employment: Salary and work schedule to be determined by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy and Classified Handbook.
