Senior HSE Professional

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior HSE Professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in health, safety, and environmental management, particularly within the Oil & Gas sector. This role is crucial for ensuring our operations adhere to the highest safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Job Purpose

The HSE Advisor's responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Compliance Administration: Oversee and monitor adherence to the WFT OEPS Management System, ensuring that all operations align with established safety and environmental protocols
  • Audit Participation: Engage in internal audits of the OEPS management system and assist with external audits as necessary, helping to ensure transparency and continuous improvement
  • System Review: Take part in regular assessments of the OEPS management system to confirm that objectives are met, and the system is functioning effectively, actively seeking opportunities for enhancement
  • Implementation and Verification: Advise on the execution of safe working procedures, Technical Work Instructions, and Task Risk Assessments. Ensure compliance with the RADAR program and site-specific PPE requirements, while monitoring actions related to the RADAR process to confirm timely follow-up and closure
  • HSE Risk Assessments: Participate in the development and maintenance of current site HSE risk assessments and risk registers, fostering a proactive approach to safety
  • Information Dissemination: Distribute relevant HSE information to employees, ensuring they are informed and engaged with safety practices
  • Incident Record Management: Maintain HSE incident records in the WPTS, providing accurate documentation for review and analysis
  • Emergency Preparedness: Participate in emergency response & spill response drills as per Weatherford Standards, ensuring readiness for potential incidents while reviewing and updating applicable emergency response plans and spill preparedness response plans annually
  • Site Induction Monitoring: Oversee site inductions to ensure they are conducted in accordance with company requirements, laying the groundwork for a safety-conscious culture
  • Incident Investigation: Contribute to incident investigations (CPAR) by ensuring thorough completion and identification of root causes and corrective actions
  • Safety Meetings Participation: Engage in daily, weekly, and monthly site safety meetings, fostering open dialogue about safety concerns and initiatives
  • Hierarchy of Controls Advice: Provide guidance on applying the hierarchy of controls in the risk management process, promoting effective safety measures
  • Facility & Field Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of facilities and field operations to verify compliance with key OEPS processes, including Permit to Work, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), pressure testing, machinery guarding, and equipment calibration
  • Hazardous Substance Management: Regularly inspect the use of hazardous substances in facilities, ensuring that MSDSOnline reflects current usage and that substances are stored and handled per OEPS requirements
  • Training Record Monitoring: Monitor employee training records to ensure compliance with Weatherford, customer, and regulatory requirements, promoting a knowledgeable and prepared workforce.
Qualifications
  • Educated to graduate level, preferably in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
  • 5-7 years of recent experience in a Senior HSE role, such as HSE Supervisor or HSE Lead, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector
  • Recognized HSE qualifications (e.g., CRSP, CSP, CHSC) are preferred
  • Experience in implementing 5S/Lean principles
  • Familiarity with State and Federal Transportation (USDOT) requirements for Commercial Vehicles.
Travel Requirements of Position
  • Territory will span the Northern US job locations including Vernal, Utah, Casper and Gillette, Wyoming and Longmont, Colorado locations as a primary area, with potential of periodically supporting additional areas as needed
  • Travel requirement of up to 30%, including overnight travel.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of local, national health and safety regulations and environmental laws
  • Risk Management: Proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with workplace hazards and environmental impact, while educating front line employees. Ability to perform formal risk assessments and critical risk registries
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills (English) to convey safety policies, procedures, and training effectively to all levels of the organization
  • Training and Development: Ability to design and deliver training programs that promote a safety culture and compliance among employees
  • Analytical Skills: Capability to analyze data, incident reports, and safety audits to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking skills to develop effective solutions to safety and environmental challenges
  • Leadership and Influence: Ability to lead safety initiatives and influence organizational culture towards prioritizing health, safety, and environment
  • Incident Investigation: Skills in conducting thorough investigations of incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Emergency Preparedness: Knowledge of emergency response planning, drills, and crisis management techniques
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with HSE software tools and technologies for tracking compliance and managing safety data and able to proficiently utilize Microsoft Office suite of products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Project & Change Management: Ability to manage HSE projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget while meeting safety standards
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety protocols and standards
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must be personable, self-motivated, and have a strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders, including management, employees, customers, and regulatory bodies. Able to work diligently independently and as part of a team
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to staying updated on industry trends and best practices, and a drive for ongoing professional development.
