Job Summary

Performs a variety of semi-skilled and manual labor necessary for the maintenance of the facilities, grounds, and highways within the Caver County Public Works Highway System. This is a seasonal non-exempt position. There is neither a guarantee of continual hours or guarantee of future employment, nor County benefits, except as mandated by state and federal law or as specifically referenced in the Personnel Policy Manual. Employment will preferably start 5/10/2026 and will not exceed 9/1/2026. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Typical Duties And Responsibilities

Perform traffic control functions on highway maintenance projects. May operate light and some heavy equipment to perform construction and maintenance of highways and grounds. Performs manual labor to maintain the appearance of the highways, grounds, buildings and facilities. Assist with minor maintenance, construction, and repair of facilities, grounds, and highways. Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

At least 18 years of age. Available to work between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on a regular basis. There may be times when the work shift may change because of special projects/needs. Availability to work more than 8 hours in a day due to special projects/needs. A Valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License

Scored Examination Process

All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, background investigation, and pre-placement physical.
