AuthoraCare Collective is currently seeking a Hospice Billing Specialist. This is a Full-time remote position Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
*Note: To be considered for this position, you must reside within the following states: North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia or Florida*
Job Summary:
The Medical Billing Specialist is organized, detail oriented, and a great communicator. The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for all areas of revenue cycle management including but not limited to timely processing, researching denied claims, and posting appropriate payment and adjustments using multiple billing software.
Escalates unresolved issues appropriately, quickly, and recommends solutions to minimize future problems. Reporting to the Manager of Revenue Cycle, this position works closely with all team members involved in the revenue cycle to ensure claims are billed and collected in a timely manner.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma Required. Associate degree related to healthcare preferred
- 2-3 years of healthcare billing experience is a must
- Experience in billing Hospice claims is required
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and other payors required
- Proficiency with any EMR/EHR (Homecare/Homebase - preferred)
- Knowledge of payment posting
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Knowledge of medical terminology including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- This is a remote position but to be considered you must reside within the following states: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina or Florida.
- Other: Valid state-issued driver's license required. Must carry automobile liability insurance at limits required by agency. Must have own transportation
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain current knowledge of industry compliance including new regulations, conditions, requirement of participation, and third-party billing requirements
- Perform all aspects of billing for all payers including electronic billing using multiple systems and Private Pay statements
- Assist in making any necessary retroactive payer changes as required and coordinate/communicate regarding impacts on prior period revenue recognition
- Collaborate with clinical staff for the completion of charge posting and clearing errors to produce invoices for submission.
- Monthly review of Accounts Receivable Aging reports and follow-up on past due balances
- Examines billing reports to ensure accuracy and completeness defined by management
- Ability to analyze information gathered to identify potential problems or discrepancies
- Complete all required duties and projects in a timely fashion on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis per the direction of leadership
- Perform other duties as required by leadership
