Entry-Level Engineering Role
This entry-level engineering role supports the development, production, and continuous improvement of specialized products by bridging the gap between R&D and manufacturing. The position involves troubleshooting production issues, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors, and participating in product testing and validation to ensure performance and quality standards are met.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering field from an ABET accredited engineering school.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or co-op experience acceptable)
- Experience in underground mining environments and/or manufacturing plants is a strong asset
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and product testing
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor AutoCAD, or similar)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage technical documentation and drawings
- Ability to work collaboratively with R&D, manufacturing, and external vendors
- Willingness to travel to manufacturing facilities and work in plant or testing environments
Responsibilities
- Production Support & Troubleshooting – Resolve manufacturing issues (e.g., Clearfield plant challenges) and support continuous process improvements.
- Plant Visits & On-Site Verification – Travel to manufacturing plants to verify processes, ensure compliance with standards, and provide technical support.
- R&D–Manufacturing Liaison – Serve as the link between R&D and manufacturing, coordinating on innovation projects, testing methods, and scoping/problem resolution. Collaborate with geotechnical engineering staff on testing facilities.
- Technical Product Drawings – Manage and maintain accurate technical drawings to ensure designs are properly documented, stored, and available for reference.
- Outsourced Manufacturing Coordination – Work with external vendors on outsourced production steps and sample builds to support development of specialized hard rock product lines.
- Product Testing & Verification – Lead validation and performance testing for new and existing products, ensuring reliability and supporting innovation projects.
- Technical Data Management – Develop, update, and secure approvals for technical data sheets, maintaining accuracy across all platforms.
- Quality Assurance & Documentation – Implement verification procedures, uphold product quality standards, and prepare reports. Support change management and assist management with customer complaint resolution.
- Process & Project Reporting – Communicate issues up the chain regarding process and product issues, testing results, and project progress.
- Marketing Collaboration – Provide accurate technical content for website updates, product pages, and external communications.
- Professional Growth – Build technical and project leadership skills under the mentorship of senior leadership, with structured exposure to design, testing, and manufacturing processes.
