Job Summary:
The Lead Accountant manages day-to-day accounting operations for a senior living community. This hands-on role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports monthly and year-end closes, reconciles bank and resident accounts, and partners with leadership to maintain strong financial controls.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate accounting records using QuickBooks.

Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.

Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.

Support monthly and year-end close processes.

Track and reconcile resident accounts, deposits, and leasing-related transactions.

Coordinate with operations to ensure accurate revenue and expense coding.

Assist with budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reviews.

Support external accountants, auditors, and tax preparers.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting best practices.

Assist with process improvements as the organization grows.
Qualifications:
-
5+ years accounting experience in industry or public accounting.

Strong QuickBooks expertise.

Proven experience with bank reconciliations.

Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements.

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Strong Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in multi-facility or multi-entity accounting.

Residential leasing or property management accounting experience.

Profit center analysis experience.

Senior living, healthcare, or real estate accounting experience.

Prior responsibility for monthly close and internal reporting.

Exposure to budgeting or financial analysis.
