Warehouse Lead

Work Hours: Day Shift - 5:00am to 5:00pm ***Work every other weekend***

Location: Harrisonburg, VA

Report to: Dry Warehouse Supervisor/Operations Manager

Responsibilities as Lead:

  • Promote a safe work environment through personal actions
  • Plans and leads the shift operations of an assigned facility, providing distribution and warehouse services to a wide variety of regional customers
  • Monitor employee morale and other employment related issues, keeping supervision/management abreast of any items that may be of concern
  • Plan and lead Warehouse Associates with the unloading/loading/processing operations using equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work with supervision/management to communicate items such as hot shipments or deliveries, product on hold, work schedules, new procedures, new policies, etc.
  • Lead Warehouse Associates in the proper rotation of stock, where applicable
  • Assist with periodic inventories, and be prepared to lead Warehouse Associates in the proper cycle count, counting and re-counting procedures
  • Lead and encourage Warehouse Associates in the areas of safety, industrial hygiene, general safety, environmental health, and fire safety
  • Identify and reduce risks from potential hazards in the workplace and assist with compliance to OSHA and other regulatory rules and regulations
  • Monitor maintenance of the warehouse and warehouse equipment, communicating any related problems to supervision/management
  • Other duties as assigned

As Shipping Coordinator:

  • Direct workforce by utilizing Blue Yonder processes
  • Problem solves systematic issues to maintain operator movement.
  • Analyze and manage space considerations to maximize efficiency.
  • Manage operations systematically in multiple locations.
  • Ensure team member utilization and productivity by releasing work timely.
  • Direct product to correct area in warehouse
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lead Warehouse Associates in the proper warehouse methods, principles and practices
  • Ability to analyze pertinent factors related to stock and inventory control
  • Ability to determine material requirements for specific or specialized projects
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationship
  • Ability to lead Warehouse Associates in the performance of material receipt, storage, shipping/distribution and record keeping functions
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Prefer 1 year of Forklift experience (specific standup or sit down) in a warehouse or manufacturing environment but not mandatory. Training will be provided.
  • Familiarity with RFID
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of warehousing operations including receipt, storage, issuance and distribution of a wide variety of commodities
  • Knowledge of inventory control and inventory practices
  • Knowledge of commercial shipping methods, terminology and equipment
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local requirements for receipt, storage, issuance and disposal of hazardous materials and similar items requiring special handling
  • Ability to coordinate, schedule and lead the work activity for assigned personnel
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance
  • Strong teamwork skills must be able to train all team members on specific processes
  • Must be able to work overtime, days and/or evenings, and weekends
  • Must be able to work in a 35 degrees Fahrenheit cold storage environment.
  • Ability to read numbers and labels
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to pay close attention to details and meet deadlines
  • Ability to safely lift up to 60 lbs. frequently

Training and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two (2) years of warehousing experience in a moderate-sized warehouse.
  • Supervisory experience is helpful but not required.
  • Experience with Blue Yonder and/or successful completion of Blue Yonder training (will be provided)

License/Certificates:

  • Possession of a valid state driver's license is required. Possession of a valid state Class A or B driver's license is preferred.
