$15-$15.50/hour DOQ; Tuesdays & Thursdays 6-7:30p, evenings; School Year 2026-2027 starts around August 10th

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Little Learners After Dark Preschool Instructor is responsible for providing a safe, positive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment, as well as planning and leading a structured, engaging evening preschool class. This role focuses on supporting early childhood development through hands-on learning, while creating a calm and positive classroom environment that fits the unique needs of an evening schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  1. Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3-4 preferred)
  2. Background in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
  3. Strong classroom management and communication skills
  4. Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans
  5. Patient, energetic, and nurturing demeanor
  6. Availability in evening hours

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons focused on school readiness skills
  • Lead activities including art, music and story time
  • Create a welcoming, safe, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about their child's progress and experience
  • Maintain a consistent routine that supports a smooth evening flow and provides positive guidance and reinforcement
  • Keep large motor activities brief, structured and safe
  • Ensure classroom materials are prepared, organized, and cleaned up after each session
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures
  • Supervision: Supervise children in the classroom
  • Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
  • Integrate children with special needs in a positive and respectful manner
  • Implement positive discipline when required
  • Discuss identified problems and needs with supervisor and coworkers as appropriate
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Reinforce appropriate safety practices and standards as applicable
  • Keep accurate attendance records
  • Attend preschool staff meetings and participate in in-service trainings
  • Support and administer all policies of the Roselle Park District
