Description
Job Purpose:
The Driver's primary responsibility is the safe and efficient operation of a lowboy truck to load/unload, secure equipment to trailer, and transport equipment to and from various jobsites throughout Berks County.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- 2+ years of Lowboy experience hauling equipment
- Experience with permit loads >80,000 pounds plus
- Loading and unloading construction equipment onto trailers and transporting it to various construction sites.
- Performing maintenance on equipment and working with a crew as necessary.
- Maintaining radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new locations.
- Keeping accurate records of materials and products transported, including logs and documentation.
Ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. - Actively promoting a safety-conscious culture and following all safety regulations and company policies.
- Performing minor servicing and maintenance of equipment and reporting any problems to the supervisor.
- Maintaining a clean and orderly condition of the truck and adhering to all company policies and procedures.
The Lowboy Driver must possess a valid Class A CDL driver's license with a clean record and be able to pass - drug, alcohol, and background screening as required by DOT.
- Language skills to communicate clearly and effectively are also necessary.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid CDL - Class A Driver's license with a good driving record (License must be the State of residence)
- Clean Driving Record
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Knowledge of DOT standards and requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip making sure truck is in safe conditions
- Maintains telephone contact with dispatch for instructions
- Maintains truck logs as required by the State, Federal, and Company policies and regulations
- Ability to load heavy pieces of machinery into the trailer, crawl under the machines to secure binder chains between machine & trailer. Make sure chains are tight & secure.
- Maintains the cleanliness and service ability of assigned truck
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a Medical Examiner's Certificate (Health Card)
