Fireman (Maintenance)

Reports To: Manager of Buildings and Grounds

Qualifications: Required Experience or Training

Possess a basic elementary understanding and applied knowledge of buildings and ground maintenance and repair

Possess valid operators license for driving work related vehicles

Evidence of successful work experience and of a strong attendance record

Special Requirements of the Position

Possess skills to perform the varied maintenance and repair responsibilities required of the position

Broad understanding and/or experience in the various phases of building and ground maintenance and repair

Ability to work nights and weekends for snow removal and other emergencies

Desired Experience

Possess a comprehensive understanding and applied knowledge of plant, lawn and grounds maintenance

A practical knowledge of all aspects of building maintenance methods and practices as they apply to school facilities

Additional Certificates Preferred

Attend job-related workshops and seminars

Basic Functions and Types of Activities Performed

Frequently prepare setups for all events

Maintain, store and store tools and equipment

Repairs as needed

Perform other duties and assignments as directed by the Manager of Buildings and Grounds

Types of Activities Performed Occasionally

General – As directed assist in general maintenance work

Position Responsibilities

Minor roof repair

Minor plumbing repair

Machinery repair and preventative maintenance

Window repair and glazing

Maintain and replace floor tile

Door and accessory repair

Set up and/or furnish supportive athletic equipment

Prune trees and shrubs

Lawn maintenance

Operate job related power equipment

Remove snow and ice from grounds/lots

Lubricate and maintain assigned equipment

Plastering, drywall taping and sanding, painting

Assume work responsibilities independently and without assistance

Perform duties and assignments as directed by the Building Manager or his designee
