Maintenance Associate II

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor/Shift Leader/Team Leader, perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting & repairs. Installs and maintains machinery and equipment in support of manufacturing operations. Performs general and preventative/predictive maintenance for all manufacturing equipment. Supports facilities and maintenance requirements as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Duties required for successful job performance):

Must be knowledgeable in the design and operation of applicable mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems. Proficient in effective troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical/PLC functions. Ability to develop and perform scheduled preventive/predictive maintenance procedures on production equipment/machinery. Use electrical/electronic measuring and testing equipment as needed. Operate hand and power tools (drill press, band saws, side & bench grinders, hydraulic press, etc.). Demonstrate proficiency in performing welding (gas & electric), brazing and cutting. Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision and comfortable making own decisions. Must be able to rely on one's own skill and decision-making ability to effectively repair and maintain equipment. Ability to work from blueprints, maintenance manuals, drawings and sketches as well as written and verbal instructions. Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervision and outside support personnel. Must be able to review new or unfamiliar equipment and develop an understanding of its mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems. Must consistently develop ways to minimize scrap through proactive solutions. Participates in training as required to stay current with the level of technology in the work area. Must be able to train and develop other maintenance associates and assist them to efficiently complete assigned tasks. Ensures housekeeping and health & safety standards (lockout/tagout, machine guarding, etc.) are maintained. Complies with policies and procedures pertaining to facility or divisional adopted standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 14001/45001. Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement and cost reduction in the execution of the job function. Acceptable Attendance

Required Education and/or Experience

Technical degree or equivalent education/experience Proficiency in the operation of hand and power tools (drill press, band saws, side and bench grinders, hydraulic presses. Proficient in troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical/PLC functions. Five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience is preferred.

Required Decision-Making and Organization Impact:

The Maintenance Associate II will make decisions on the purchase and replacement of repair parts for production equipment. Proper decisions result in decreased downtime and minimize repair parts costs. Poor decisions increase cost to the company in both repair parts cost and downtime (decreased productivity).

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Preventative Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Shift Leader or Maintenance Team Leader as assigned. No direct reports.

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing plant exposure with required hearing and eye protection. Long periods of standing. Composite/Steel Toed shoes are required on the manufacturing floor.
