POSITION TITLE:

Maintenance II

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Knowledge of and skill to effectively use the tools and materials of the trade
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

JOB GOAL:

To provide assistance in achieving and maintaining an effective school program in the Tarrant City Schools.

REPORTS TO:

Coordinator of Facilities and Maintenance

SUPERVISES:

N/A

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, follow instructions, and utilize operating manuals.
  • Works with Maintenance I to perform crossover work in several trade areas including but not limited to Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Refrigeration, appliance repair, painting, and carpentry.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary for efficient operation of school facilities.
  • Communicate with immediate supervisor daily regarding work schedule, safety issues, repairs, etc.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees in assigned areas.
  • Maintain close communication regarding the status of projects with local school principals, staff and co-workers.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned service vehicle and its contents. Maintain assigned tools and equipment as necessary.
  • Complete necessary reports, work orders, etc. as required.
  • Complete all tasks in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Practice "Safety First" in all aspects of job performance.
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude in the work environment.
  • Delivers equipment, books, custodial supplies, etc. to schools and other designated places.
  • Works with custodians to solve issues with facilities and equipment.
  • Ability to work with ladders, scaffolding and aerial lifts.
  • Follow attendance, punctuality, and proper dress rules.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters. Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: *Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve-month position in accordance with Board approved salary schedule.

EVALUATION:

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Tarrant City Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified personnel.

This is a non-exempt position.
