Description
Clark College is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Mechanic 3 - HVAC Technician position to support the Facilities Services Department. This is a full-time permanent classified position responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and construction of all types of HVAC systems, hydronic piping, building automation system (BAS) controls and programming, etc., on the main campus or at satellite campuses. The schedule for this position is in person from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

Position Responsibilities
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, maintain, and repair all portions of HVAC systems, including ducts, vents, air handlers, dampers, filters, chillers, boilers, VFDs, motors, pumps, belts, pulleys, etc.
- Program, operate, adjust, and evaluate building automation systems such as Siemens Desigo, etc.
- Perform preventive maintenance work on, troubleshoot, and repair all types of HVAC equipment, including lubrication, filters, motors, bearings, vibration analysis, testing, and inspections.
- Meet and interact with contractors, vendors, and others related to HVAC work.
- Maintain, repair, and install piping, controls, valves, automatic valves, low voltage wiring, insulation, etc., associated with hydronic piping systems.
- Respond to emergencies associated with the HVAC system and hot/cold calls.
- Estimate materials and time needed to complete jobs, order materials, and interpret blueprints.
- Lead and instruct helpers; enter and monitor data on CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and BAS (Building Automated Systems) as required.
- Perform other work, including some minor plumbing, electrical, framing, operation of different types of equipment, and/or support other trades and functions as required.
- Use and maintain hand and power tools, specialty tools, and equipment.
- Be available for overtime and respond to off-hours emergencies if asked and when required.
- Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
- Completion of a recognized HVAC technician course/program AND two (2) years of experience in the commercial HVAC field OR equivalent years of experience.
- Two (2) years of experience working with control wiring.
- Current valid driver's license and auto insurance.
- Understanding of practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment in commercial HVAC.

- Ability to work from blueprints, plans, and sketches.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more if needed.
- Ability and willingness to understand and follow laws, regulations, and other standards established to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
- The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
- This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $5,117-$5,929/month | Step G-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range: 50E | Code: 626L
Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
