Description
WinnCompanies is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to join our team at Icemorelee Street Apartments, a 99-unit affordable housing community located in Monroe, North Carolina.
In this entry-level role, you will perform a variety of apartment maintenance and facilities maintenance functions throughout the community, including residential units, common areas, office space, grounds, and parking lots. This position is ideal for candidates looking to build a career in residential property maintenance or affordable housing maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform apartment maintenance and repairs including, but not limited to:
- Appliances
- Carpentry
- Painting
- Masonry
- Hardware and fixtures
- Basic electrical repairs
- Basic plumbing repairs
- Basic HVAC maintenance
- Complete assigned work orders, service requests, and repairs in accordance with company policies and timelines
- Assist with preparing vacant apartments for market-ready / make-ready status
- Maintain community grounds and curb appeal, including landscaping, trash removal, and snow removal as needed
- Support preventive maintenance activities throughout the property
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to respond to after-hours and emergency maintenance needs
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
- On-call rotation every other week once fully staffed
Required Qualifications
- Less than 1 year of relevant maintenance or related work experience
- General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, and HVAC systems
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with residents
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic familiarity with computers and tablets for work order management
- Availability to work on-call during evenings, weekends, or emergencies as needed
- Ability to speak and understand basic English
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people and personalities
Preferred Qualifications

- Vocational or technical training in maintenance, facilities, or a related field
- CAMT (Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician) certification
Compensation
Salary range: $19-$24 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
