Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of facility and equipment maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance activities to support daily production operations. This role ensures equipment and building systems are maintained in a safe, reliable, and timely manner to minimize downtime and support operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, along with the ability to communicate findings clearly and work effectively with cross-functional teams. Safety is the highest priority in every maintenance activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manual, semi-automated, and automated production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair:
- Electrical systems
- Mechanical systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Hydraulic systems
- PLC-controlled equipment
- Read and interpret:
- Electrical schematics
- Ladder diagrams
- Technical manuals
- Blueprints
- Manufacturer specifications
- Support installation, testing, and validation of new production equipment.
- Maintain facility systems including:
- Industrial electrical
- Plumbing
- HVAC
- Lighting
- Structural systems
- Diagnose machine faults using PLC displays, CNC panels, and other control systems.
- Perform machine adjustments on:
- Sensors
- Interlocks
- Energy isolation systems
- Ancillary machine controls
- Document maintenance work, findings, and recommendations in computerized maintenance systems.
- Maintain equipment records, calibration certifications, and machine history documentation.
- Identify replacement parts, research suppliers, and coordinate purchasing based on production needs.
- Participate in facility improvement and equipment installation projects.
- Assist in training junior maintenance technicians and mechanics.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Arc flash requirements
- Company safety policies
- Applicable regulatory standards
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives including:
- 5S
- Visual Management
- Root Cause Analysis
- Waste Reduction
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical distribution systems
- Mechanical systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Ability to calculate electrical loads and determine:
- Proper fuse protection
- Correct wire sizing
- Advanced troubleshooting skills in industrial equipment
- Experience with PLC diagnostics and machine controls
- Ability to work safely from:
- Ladders
- Scaffolding
- Man lifts
- Elevated platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Knowledge of government safety and facility regulations
- Lean Manufacturing experience
- Experience supporting capital equipment installation projects
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move maintenance tools and equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to work in manufacturing and facility environments
