Description
Maintenance Trainee
Maintenance Trainees work with the Theatre Technical Director on the maintenance and upkeep of the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center and its equipment. These positions are part-time, as needed, to support the robust event schedule at the Performing Arts Center. This at-will, part-time position is not eligible for City benefits. Examples Of Duties, Responsibilities And Expectations
Maintenance Trainees in the Community Services Department at Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center perform custodial and light maintenance duties, including, but not limited to:
- Sweeping, mopping, washing walls picking up litter from around buildings and grounds
- Emptying trash cans and replacing liners
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replenishing supplies
- Other custodial duties as required to keep the Performing Arts Center, buildings and grounds in a clean and sanitary condition
- Providing parking direction/control for events
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
ABILITY TO: Meet the physical employment standards; use various types of custodial/maintenance equipment safely and effectively; work variable hours under stress and pressing deadlines; perform work requiring some physical strength, dexterity and endurance; communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing; be able to understand and implement instructions provided both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- This is an entry-level position. However, experience performing custodial and/or maintenance duties, particularly in a theater is desirable
- Minimum of one (1) year of paid maintenance experience or any combination of training and experience totaling one year that provides the required knowledge and ability.
- Must have a California Class C Driver's License and good references.
This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

SELECTION PROCESS:
