Description
Manufacturing Engineer Intern
Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join the Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT.
Develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes required to meet the needs of the operation for both existing and new products. Assure processes support organizational goals for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost. Ultimately, you'll be the one to ensure our production lines work efficiently and effectively to satisfy our customers.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Prepares process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provides technical assistance to maintenance and operations as necessary to meet the business needs.
- Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Develop and test effective automated and manual systems
- Resolve issues and delays in production
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; and managing special service.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Pursuing a B.S degree in Engineering (Mechanical/ Manufacturing, Industrial or equivalent)
Skills/Competencies:
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design
- Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations
- Well-versed in relevant software (e.g. CAD, MS Office)
- Project management skills and Problem-solving ability
- Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and concepts
- Teamwork skills
