Job Title: Material Planner / Production Control Specialist
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Material Control Specialist to manage the end-to-end flow of parts and materials for a high-volume, complex manufacturing program. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring 100% parts availability to meet production targets while simultaneously optimizing inventory levels to reduce carrying costs. You will act as the primary liaison between global suppliers and internal logistics teams, managing technical changes, parts transitions (run-in/run-out), and supplier performance metrics. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong SAP experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, just-in-time (JIT) environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Inventory & Planning: Coordinate the timely planning and procurement of the exact quantity of parts required to support daily production schedules.
• System Administration: Perform data processing and parameter management within the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to maintain data integrity.
• Stock Optimization: Balance supply and demand to optimize on-hand stock levels, minimizing the risk of production shortages and obsolescence costs.
• Technical Change Management: Support ongoing series production by managing parts transitions related to technical engineering changes.
• Supplier Performance: Maintain and analyze monthly supplier performance ratings; act as the lead contact for suppliers, carriers, and logistics associations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in logistics-focused projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency.
• Reporting: Utilize Excel and SAP to generate inventory reports, analyze supplier metrics, and provide status updates to leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Professional Experience:
o1-3 years of experience in Material Control, Production Control, or Supply Chain Management.
oHands-on experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
• Technical Mastery:
oProficiency in SAP is highly preferred.
oIntermediate computer skills, with an emphasis on Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) and Microsoft Word.
• Education:
oBS/BA degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or International Business.
oEquivalent Experience: 4 years of professional material planning experience may be substituted for a degree.
• Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Languages (Preferred): Basic conversational skills in German or Spanish are considered a significant plus.
