Pay:Starting at $15 per hour.
Position Summary:
Nationwide Uniform (by Fechheimer) in Hodgenville, KY, is seeking a reliable and team-oriented Material Handler to support our Cutting Team and production in a fast paced uniform manufacturing environment. The Material Handler supports the Cutting Room by safely moving, staging, and tracking materials-especially rolls of fabric, cut parts, and supplies-between storage areas and production workstations. This role helps maintain production flow by keeping materials organized, verifying documentation, and ensuring items are delivered accurately and on time in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
In this role you will be required to...
Material Movement & Staging
- Move freight, stock, and materials to and from storage areas, cutting/production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles by hand or using approved material-handling equipment (e.g., carts, hand trucks, pallet jacks as applicable).
- Push, pull, lift, and transport tubs of cut parts (up to 50 lbs.) to designated locations throughout the plant to support production flow.
- Load and unload rolls of material from pallets/trucks and stage materials in designated areas to support daily production needs.
Forklift & Equipment Operation
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely; complete basic pre-shift inspections and follow facility traffic patterns and racking/stacking practices.
- Use RF handheld scanners to record material moves and support accurate inventory transactions (preferred/learnable).
Inventory Handling & Documentation
- Read and interpret internal packing/shipping documents and manifests to ensure accurate material movement and staging.
- Use RF handheld scanners (preferred) or other systems as needed to support accurate transactions and tracking.
Quality Check & Measurement
- Inspect and measure rolls of fabric using basic measuring tools (ruler/yardstick) and report concerns per standard practice.
- Maintain organization and accuracy to prevent mix-ups, damage, or loss of materials.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean, organized work area to support safe material flow and efficient operations.
- Perform other duties, as assigned, in support of Cutting Room operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or within a team and follow direction.
- Basic math (arithmetic) and ability to use a ruler/yardstick for measurements.
- Strong reliability, responsibility, and attention to detail to support accurate staging and movement of materials.
- Warehouse/manufacturing experience is a plus but not required (role dependent).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience using RF handheld scanners preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift (up to 8 hours).
Physical Requirements:
- Positional: Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift; occasional sitting for documentation; frequent pushing/pulling carts and moving materials throughout the plant. Must be able to lift/carry up to 80 lbs. as required.
- Gross Mobility: Rare climbing or crawling; occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching; frequent reaching, handling, and grasping while moving, staging, and measuring materials.
- Sensory: Frequent visual acuity for near and midrange tasks (labels, manifests, measurements); occasional depth perception and field of vision demands while navigating production areas; frequent talking/communication with team members.
