Sabert is looking for a Material Handler Specialist to join our team!
Night shift - Starting rate: $20.50
What is my day to day like?
As a Material Handler Specialist, you play a critical role in supporting continuous manufacturing operations by managing raw material flow, silo inventory, and material conveyance systems that supply Extrusion, Laminator, and Inline Additive processes. This position ensures material accuracy, production readiness, and compliance with safety, quality, and BRC standards across the facility. The typical day-to-day of this position will include but is not limited to:
- Manage raw material flow including receiving, unloading, sampling, blending, transferring, and labeling bulk resin, railcar, and additive materials to support production schedules.
- Monitor silo levels and material conveyance systems, troubleshoot material flow issues, and install or modify piping as needed to maintain uninterrupted production.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through continuous SAP transactions, material transfers, consumption reporting, and daily silo and railyard status reporting.
- Perform onsite material handling operations including receiving bulk trucks and railcars, verifying materials, authorizing unloading to correct silos, and maintaining silo labeling and filters.
- Identify, segregate, and report non-conforming materials while supporting quality testing through proper sampling and documentation.
- Support extrusion, laminator, and changeover activities including material removal, equipment cleaning, die assistance, and grinder cleanouts as required.
- Perform light MRO and mechanical tasks related to material handling systems, including replacing filters, repairing leaks, maintaining hoses, dryers, and pneumatic components.
- Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable.
What makes a person successful in this position?
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of experience in material handling, manufacturing, or industrial operations preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of material conveyance systems, silos, blenders, dryers, grinders, and extrusion support equipment.
- Experience receiving and unloading bulk resin trucks and railcars, including material verification and sampling.
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system for inventory, transfers, and reporting.
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot pneumatic and material handling issues.
- Ability to work in regulated environments following GMP, BRC, food safety, and quality standards.
- Ability to operate lifts, ladders, and work at heights in varying environmental conditions.
What will my schedule be like?
This is a full-time position scheduled for 40+ hours per week: Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with overtime eligibility based on business needs. This role is fully onsite to support continuous manufacturing operations across all shifts as required.
