Description
Medical Unit Receptionist – Cardiac Intermediate
Step into a specialized cardiac intermediate unit where compassion, organization, and teamwork come together to support patients with complex cardiac needs. Our Cardiac Intermediate Unit cares for patients requiring continuous telemetry monitoring, post-procedural recovery, and advanced cardiac care.
As a Medical Unit Receptionist (MUR), you serve as the central hub of communication for the unit—supporting nurses, providers, patients, and families to ensure seamless and efficient daily operations.
What makes this unit and role stand out:
- A collaborative, cardiac-focused team dedicated to high-quality patient care
- The opportunity to work closely with interdisciplinary teams including nursing, cardiology providers, and ancillary departments
- Exposure to a specialized patient population, including post-cardiac procedures and intermediate-level care
- Flexible PRN scheduling
- Leadership that values teamwork, attention to detail, and professional growth
- A meaningful role where your organization and communication directly impact patient safety and overall experience
If you're organized, adaptable, and ready to play an essential role in a fast-paced, high-acuity cardiac setting, our Cardiac Intermediate team would love to connect with you.
What you'll do:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for incoming calls, visitors, and interdepartmental communication
- Supporting admissions, transfers, and discharges within the electronic medical record
- Assisting nurses and providers with coordination of care and message routing
- Maintaining accurate documentation, patient charts, and unit logs
- Scheduling tests, procedures, and patient transport as requested
- Ensuring workstations, supply areas, and communication tools remain organized and up to date
- Supporting patient flow in a fast-paced, specialized care environment
What we're looking for:
- Education: High school diploma required.
- Experience: One year experience in healthcare preferred.
- Licensure/certification/registration: NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units. Required.
- Additional skills preferred: Experience with answering multiple phone lines. Basic computer skills. Excellent customer service behaviors.
At Novant Health, we believe remarkable care starts with compassion for our patients, our communities, and each other. We value belonging, courage, personal growth, and teamwork, creating a space where everyone is respected, supported, and safe to show up as their full selves.
