Summary
Drives distributor truck to load product from delivery tanker or terminal and applies emulsion or cut back asphalt oils to the project surface by performing the following duties.
Essential Responsibilities
- Inspects truck equipment, truck-trailer equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, diesel, oil, water, and all other fluid levels.
- Determines valves are closed on distributor and ready to receive load.
- Properly connects/disconnects hoses to pump product from delivery tankers.
- Checks condition of load including legal axle weight limits.
- Drives truck to destination for unloading.
- Checks for proper clearance of the spray bar for various widths of application.
- Applies asphalt oil by either the spray bar system or may use the manual hand wand.
- Uses rear side mirrors to see perimeter around distributor.
- Follows instructions for safely handling hot asphalt oil products.
- Periodically, heats asphalt oil in tank using distributor tank heating system.
- Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
- Cleans windows, mirrors, removes garbage, and maintains interior of truck in good condition.
- Performs preventative maintenance service and minor repairs on truck.
- Reports to supervisor at end of each shift to leave timecard, fuel receipts/usage, mileage, and other information as well as receive instruction for next days' work assignments.
- Expected to operate in safe manner and abide with traffic laws, rules, and regulations of State/Federal Departments of Transportation, laws governing hazardous materials and placarding, Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules and regulations and company rules/safety directives.
- Secondary functions of general laborer and other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with airbrake, tanker, and hazmat endorsement
- Current IDOT (Iowa Department of Transportation) Physical
- Ability to sit, stand, and be active for long periods of time.
- Ability to maneuver in and around vehicles and equipment as needed.
