This role is critical in ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant preparation and management of chemotherapy treatments while collaborating closely with oncology providers and nursing staff.QualificationsRegistered Pharmacist, currently licensed in New York StateCompletion of a PGY2 Oncology Residency and/or Board Certification in Oncology (BCOP) preferredAlternatively, 15+ years of experience in preparing and evaluating chemotherapy regimens requiredStrong familiarity with USP , USP , and other regulatory standards for sterile compoundingExcellent clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skillsKey ResponsibilitiesChemotherapy Inventory & ProcurementPartner with Pharmacy Buyer to maintain an accurate patient list and appropriate par levels for chemotherapy agents, updated weekly to minimize wasteRegularly review pharmacy inventory to ensure proper stock levels and organizationRemove expired or discontinued medications and promote adherence to the formulary systemChemotherapy Order Review & OptimizationReview all chemotherapy orders for accuracy, safety, and clinical appropriatenessCompare regimens against NCCN guidelines or clinical study protocols and attach supporting referencesCollaborate with providers to round doses to optimal vial sizes to reduce wasteVerify appropriate diluents, concentrations, and stability parametersEstablish and document beyond-use dates, coordinating updates within the drug information systemMonitor cumulative lifetime doses for applicable therapiesClinical Collaboration & CommunicationCommunicate with oncology providers and nursing staff to clarify or resolve any medication-related questions or discrepanciesActively participate in interdisciplinary discussions to optimize patient careCare CoordinationCoordinate with the Oncology Department on chemotherapy prescribing practicesSupport medication reconciliation processes to ensure continuity and safety of careWhat We OfferCompetitive hourly payOpportunity to work in a collaborative, patient-focused oncology environmentA role that directly impacts patient safety and treatment outcomesApply now and make an impact where it matters most!
