Description
The PAC Administrator will provide hardware and software support, troubleshoot and maintenance of the enterprise-wide PACs system. The employee will possess and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of PACs systems, radiology information systems, the interface of these systems and data networks.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education
Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
2 years Healthcare IT experience (Required)
1 year Radiology Information System (RIS) experience (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge
• Ability to interact with a variety of professional and support staff.
• Demonstrates excellent written/verbal communication skills.
• DICOM functionality and integration techniques.
• Working knowledge of data networks.
• Develop policies and procedures for use in accordance with all applicable Federal, state and hospital rules regulations, and policies.
Functional Accountabilities
Daily Operations of PACs System
• Perform system maintenance of the PACs system, images, interfaces, and databases; troubleshoot system as necessary, communicate issues to users.
• Manage, monitor, and maintain PACs system to ensure the maximum uptime and availability.
• Plan and develop system down-time procedures.
• Serve as the primary vendor point of contact for service and support; manage the vendor service contract and evaluate vendor performance.
• Perform (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly) system maintenance procedures; monitor disk usage and disk space; perform system backups; perform database maintenance; perform patient list cleanup; perform achieve maintenance; coordinate system upgrades; configure, maintain, and troubleshoot peripheral devices; perform system failure recovery activities as necessary.
• Document system acceptance testing procedures and results; split, repair, and merge broken studies; document system design,
configuration, and maintenance issues
Systems Improvement
• Recommend and facilitate implementation of process and system improvements to ensure maximum benefit from systems.
• Recommend upgrades and new systems as needed.
• Coordinate system changes and upgrades with IT services team, operational managers in departments, and system end-users.
• Document end-user feedback for system modifications and improvements.
• Integration of selected hardware and software solutions.
Internal Liaison
• Participate in Change User Group and other appropriate committees to ensure proper coordination between systems.
• Coordinate system maintenance with IT Services as appropriate for mission critical IT systems.
• Ensure proper system testing for changes, new releases, etc., both within and outside radiology.
User Education and Support
• Train new users and develop the training plans.
• Respond promptly to requests for assistance.
• Coordinate 24 hour, 7 days a week user assistance.
• Develop system manuals and quick-reference guides; assist users in using reference and resource materials, and in becoming self sufficient with minor troubleshooting.
• Relay information effectively to experienced and inexperienced uses.
• Provide assistance to users with remote or departmental workstations outside of radiology.
Security Development
• Assign and manage user privileges and access rights.
• Configure, maintain, and document user access, user profiles and system configurations.
• Develop and maintain PACs system security policies.
• Maintain data integrity, consistency and patient privacy .
