AmeriStaff Employment & Staffing Solutions is recruiting for positions in packaging and stapling for a company located in Martinsville, VA. The ideal candidate should have experience working in a warehouse environment and experience with packaging and stapling. This role is responsible for packaging film products and operating manual stapling equipment. This role will prepare finished boxes and pallets according to procedure, move product to staging, keep accurate counts and tags, and maintain a safe, clean work area.

Benefits of the Packer & Stapler Position:

  • Schedule: 2-2-3 day schedule (every other weekend)
  • 12-hour shifts, 6:15 AM - 6:30 PM (three 30-minute breaks)
  • Overtime as needed
  • 16.00/hr

Responsibilities of the Packer & Stapler Position:

  • Package finished film product into correct box bottoms and tops.
  • Operate manual stapler equipment for box assembly.
  • Prepare and stage finished pallets with accurate pallet tags.
  • Move pallets using a powered pallet jack (PIT) after training and certification.
  • Maintain material stock and support team leads and packers.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Select correct box bottoms and tops and package film per standard work instructions.
  • Place packaged film on pallets and complete pallet tags accurately (product code, counts, date, shift, operator).
  • Move finished pallets to staging area using powered pallet jack after PIT training and certification.
  • Collect and stage materials required by the packaging area and load pin carts as needed.
  • Fold boxes and operate manual stapler safely and efficiently.
  • Keep stapling materials stocked and ready.
  • Place finished boxes on pallets and keep accurate counts of boxes per pallet.
  • Manually wrap finished pallets of made boxes when required.
  • Keep work area clean and free of clutter/trip hazards at all times.
  • Empty trash bins as needed and at shift end.
  • Sweep the area at shift end and leave the area stocked and ready for the next shift.
  • Report any damaged tools, materials, or equipment to the Group Lead or Team Manager.

Requirements:

  • Accurate, timely packaging and pallet preparation to meet production targets.
  • Correct and complete pallet tags and box counts.
  • Safe operation of equipment following training and certification.
  • Consistently clean, stocked, and hazard-free work area.
  • Clear, timely communication with packers, Group Leads, and Team Managers.

  • Take time to work safely and protect yourself and others.
  • Recognize, communicate, and control hazards immediately.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Follow all procedures, checklists, and safe work practices.

Primary expectations (behavioral and functional)

  • Follow all safety rules and standard work procedures.
  • Maintain good, clear communication with packers, Group Leads, and Team Managers.
  • Able to read and write to complete tags and basic documentation.
  • Able to work standing for the entire shift (except break periods).
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Adapt readily to changes in workload, process, or surroundings.
  • Attend and complete required training (PIT, stapler operation, safety, etc.).

Qualifications & requirements

  • Ability to read and write.
  • Physical ability to stand for 12-hour shifts and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift and move boxes/pallet components per site lifting guidelines.
  • Willingness to complete PIT and site-specific safety training prior to operating powered equipment.
  • Prior packaging, assembly, or material-handling experience is preferred but not required.
  • Able to pick up 50 lbs

Training & certification

  • Site safety orientation and PPE training.
  • Specific training for manual stapler operation and safe handling.
  • PIT (powered pallet jack / forklift) training and certification before operating equipment.
  • On-the-job training for packing procedures, pallet tagging, and daily hou sekeeping expectations.
