Summary
Performs routine custodial, cleaning, and basic maintenance work in City parks, park facilities, restrooms, and public spaces. Ensures parks are clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors.
This part-time position performs custodial and facility cleaning duties primarily during evening, night, and weekend hours, working up to 20 hours per week based on operational needs.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Cleans and sanitizes park restrooms, pavilions, playground areas, and other facilities
- Empties trash receptacles and replaces liners throughout parks and public areas
- Picks up litter and debris across park grounds, trails, and parking areas
- Sweeps, mops, and pressure washes surfaces and structures
- Inspects facilities for damage, safety hazards, or vandalism and reports issues to supervisor
- Performs minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and completing basic repairs
- Restocks restroom supplies including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
- Assists with event setup and breakdown, including tables, chairs, and waste stations
- Maintains cleanliness of park equipment and assigned vehicles
- Operates and uses cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with safety procedures
- Interacts professionally and courteously with the public, coworkers, and other stakeholders
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or maintenance experience preferred
- Experience in parks or outdoor maintenance is desirable
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class "C" Texas Driver License and clean driving record
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to identify maintenance issues and safety hazards
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and minor repair techniques
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and work ethic
