Part-Time Food Service Delivery Driver

The primary responsibility of the Part-Time Food Service Delivery Driver is to transport prepared food and meals from the kitchen to designated locations on a daily basis. Ensures meals arrive in proper condition: hot foods hot, cold foods cold, and maintains delivery records for compliance and inventory purposes.

Reports to the Director of Food Service

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Load prepared meals into insulated carriers; deliver to specified schools/locations daily within the assigned 2-hour window.
  2. Complete delivery manifests showing meal counts, types, and condition; obtain signatures from receiving staff; report any damaged or missing items to the director or site contact.
  3. Keep delivery vehicle clean and organized; report mechanical issues immediately
  4. Follow all food safety and health code requirements during transport; never leave meals unattended
  5. Notify schools of arrival times; coordinate with kitchen staff on loading schedules
  6. Give excellent customer service and represent the school district
  7. Advise supervisor of any supply problems.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License; have acceptable driving record and qualify for insurability by the District's insurance carrier; Commercial Driver's license a plus
Cognitive/Communication Abilities
  • Knowledge of methods and systems used in receiving, storing, and delivery of supplies and equipment, requisitioning, purchase orders, invoices, and delivery slip and the purpose and function of each
  • Knowledge of driving and operation of light medium duty trucks
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and schedules; understand and carry out oral and written communications
  • Possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relation skills
  • Attend work related meetings
  • Handle confidential information
  • Maintain stamina during the workday
  • Meet deadlines, stay organized
  • Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Concentrate on tasks
Physical Demands

Usual lifting activity: Heavy, lifting up to 100 lbs. maximum and carrying objects up to 50 lbs.

Requires occasional climbing and speaking (these activities are an essential part of the job at random intervals)

Requires frequent bending, pushing, reaching, standing, and walking (these activities are a usual and customary part of the job.)

Requires constant hearing, and seeing (these activities are continually occurring as part of the job)
