Facilities And Maintenance Specialist
The Church of St. Luke
Location: 1980 Hillsdale Rd., El Cajon, CA 92019
Reports to: Parish Life Director
Employment Type: Part Time (25 hours per week)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary: $22 - $25 per hour based on experience
Position Overview
As a facilities and maintenance specialist, primary responsibilities include the maintenance and upkeep of all parish facilities and ensuring the church campus is safe, clean, and well maintained. This consists of general repair and maintenance include plumbing, electrical, general upkeep and repair of parish buildings and facilities. Responsibilities also include setup of tables and chairs and other support as needed for special events at the parish including weekend events.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections of church buildings, offices, and grounds
- Conduct minor repairs including carpentry, painting, and equipment upkeep
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems and coordinate servicing as needed
- Identify maintenance needs and recommend improvements or upgrades
Plumbing
- Address minor plumbing issues such as leaks, clogs, and fixture repairs
- Inspect plumbing systems regularly to ensure proper function
- Coordinate with licensed contractors for major repairs when necessary
Electrical
- Perform basic electrical maintenance such as replacing fixtures, bulbs, and outlets
- Troubleshoot minor electrical issues safely
- Coordinate with licensed electricians for complex work or code compliance
Cleaning & Groundskeeping
- Ensure church, offices, restrooms, and common areas are clean and orderly
- Oversee trash removal and recycling
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
- Use power equipment and hand tools as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Assemble equipment including desks, chairs, cabinets etc.
- Conduct maintenance of equipment.
- Remove, repair and replace lights and ballasts as needed.
- Perform general carpentry work and minor electrical repairs as needed.
- Perform general plumbing maintenance.
- Assist in maintaining the all parish facilities.
- Notify appropriate personnel of structural items or contents needing maintenance or repairs by outside contractors.
- Open, set up, close and clean for special events.
- Perform duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of repair methods, materials, tools and general practices.
- Must be able to read, write and understand English.
- Ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision.
- Previous related work experience preferred
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be mobile to, from, and within the facility, as well as maneuver throughout the facility to clean and maintain the property, including climbing ladders. The employee is able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including frequent bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
