Powder Coating Prep Technician
The Powder Coating Prep Technician is responsible for preparing metal parts for the powder coating process by properly hanging, racking, and organizing items on the production line. This role ensures parts are securely positioned for coating and supports overall production efficiency and quality. Location: Tonganoxie, KS Pay Range: $17/hr Shift: 6am - 4:30pm M-Th
Key Responsibilities:
- Hang metal parts, components, and assemblies onto hooks, and racks prior to coating
- Ensure proper spacing and positioning of parts for full and even powder coverage
- Inspect parts for defects, dirt, oil, or debris before hanging
- Remove parts from racks after coating (unhanging) when needed
- Maintain consistent workflow to meet production goals and deadlines
- Handle parts carefully to prevent damage or contamination
- Assist with masking or plugging holes when required
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to lift, carry, and hang parts
- Comfortable working on feet for extended periods
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
Work Environment:
- Industrial setting with exposure to heat, noise, and powder coating materials
- Requires standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion
- Use of gloves, safety glasses, and other protective equipment required
