Pre-Weigh Operator
The Pre-Weigh Operator is responsible for accurately measuring and preparing ingredients for production batches. This role ensures all materials are weighed according to formulas and ready for blending while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately weigh and measure ingredients using scales based on batch sheets or recipes
- Stage and organize ingredients for production in the correct order
- Verify lot numbers, materials, and quantities before use
- Maintain proper documentation and production records
- Supply pre-weighed ingredients to blending/mixing teams in a timely manner
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages
- Follow all food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, sanitation practices)
- Keep the pre-weigh area clean, organized, and audit-ready
- Assist with equipment setup, cleaning, and changeovers as needed
These responsibilities align closely with similar batching/pre-weigh roles where employees must follow recipes precisely and maintain quality and compliance standards.
Requirements / Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic math skills (weights, measurements, conversions)
- Ability to follow written instructions and batch formulas
- Experience in food production or manufacturing (preferred)
- Ability to lift 40–55 lbs regularly
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
- Basic computer or paperwork skills for tracking batches
Work Environment
- Food manufacturing plant (often temperature-controlled but can vary)
- Standing for long periods
- Exposure to ingredients, dust, and production equipment
- Use of PPE (hair nets, gloves, etc.)
