Description
HGA is seeking a Principal Engineer - Electricalto support operations near Point Celeste, LA.Responsibilities
- Serve as focal point for technical issues and coordination between EPC and owner furnished equipment suppliers. Liaise with home office engineering for issues that cannot be resolved at site.
- Participate in project safety programs through safety walks, reviews, and providing safety input into designs, procedures, and activities.
- Manage the power island RFI process between EPC and owner furnished equipment suppliers.
- Review drawings issued by EPC and equipment suppliers.
- Identify quality issues related to defective or nonconforming workmanship or materials. Work closely with construction to ensure contractors meet project drawings and specifications.
- Research code issues and obtain necessary approvals with subject matter experts.
- Attend kick off and review meetings and interact with EPC contractors.
- Support systems?completion processes, including completion of ITRs and PLIs. Ensure punch list items are prepared, tracked, and cleared quickly.
- Support commissioning activities for power island systems. Ensure systems are complete, prerequisites met, and coordinate interfaces as required.
- Support management of change processes.
- Review installation plans and documents for assigned areas, ensuring requirements are clearly communicated to construction.
- Actively support constructability programs and communicate constructability issues to discipline engineers.
- Understand industry standards, applicable regulatory codes, and company requirements.
- Assist with development and review of turnover dossiers.
- Attend project progress meetings and provide status updates on site engineering activities.
- Build relationships with contractor engineering counterparts.
- Understand contractual requirements and communicate them to the team.
- Actively support safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required; a degree in Mechanical Engineering may also be considered based on experience.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of senior?level engineering experience working with electrical equipment in an industrial environment, including engineering or operations roles.
- Oil and Gas industry experience is required, with strong preference for LNG applications. Experience in petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing facilities may be acceptable.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with the design, construction, or operation of electrical power distribution systems and power generation equipment.
- Experience serving as an owner's representative is a plus.
- Experience with systems completion, commissioning, turnaround activities, and water treatment systems is beneficial.
- Extensive knowledge of electric motors, gas turbines (Frame and Aero?derivative), and compressors.
- Working knowledge of power?generation rotating equipment including gas turbines, steam turbines, and pumps.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings and specifications, including P&IDs and one?line diagrams.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) tools.

- Team?oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across global and culturally diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of deliverables and drive them to completion.
- Domestic travel required.
