Description
Production Operator | Houston, TX
Work in a team environment serving as Production Operator in a dynamic industrial distribution business. Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments by performing the following duties.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Conveys materials and items from Receiving or Production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
- Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
- Marks materials with identifying information.
- Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
- Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.
- Uses computer and/or bar code scanner to enter records.
- Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Drives vehicles to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
- Completes requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments.
- Prepares parcels for mailing.
- Maintains inventory records.
- All other duties as assigned.
Saw duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Able to process a cut order to include the following: perform actual physical cutting of pipe, generate stencil and apply to cut piece and drop, maintain the order in the operating system.
- Perform routine maintenance on the saws to include but not limited to the following: greasing, checking of all fluids, leveling of rollers.
- Capable of training others to proficiency on levels 1 and 2.

Education and/or experience: High School Diploma or equivalent and two years related warehouse, distribution or logistical experience. Experience operating forklifts
Language skills: Must be able to communicate detailed and/or important instructions, including safety instructions, to other workers accurately, loudly and/or quickly.
Mathematical skills: Basic mathematical skills required. Must be able to count and measure accurately and record the results.

- Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds or more of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Visual Acuity: Preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting transcription, reading, skills in mathematics, computer readouts, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines (including inspection), using measurement devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes, machines such as beveling machines, shot and sand blasters, threading machines, paint machines, spraying machines, drill presses, band and power saws where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach, operation of cars, trucks, forklifts, cranes and high lift equipment.
- Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, climbing onto trucks, etc. using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. The amount and kind of climbing exceeds that for ordinary locomotion.
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. The amount and kind of balancing exceeds that for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Stooping does occur to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Lifting: Raising objects from lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. Lifting does occur to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking does occur to a considerable degree and requires the conveyance of detailed or important instructions, including safety instructions, to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
- Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Visual: Color, field of vision, peripheral, and depth perception of an object(s).
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knees to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.

Both inside and outside environmental conditions: Activities occur inside where there is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes, and outside where there is no effective protection from weather.
Extreme Cold: Temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of one or more hours.

Noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
