Position Announcement

The Department of Technology Management and Mechatronics (invites applications for a professional-in-residence faculty position in Technology Management to begin August 1, 2026.

The professional-in-residence (PIR) teaches undergraduate mechatronics engineering technology courses, creates instructional materials, directs course projects, and holds regular office hours. 20% of the professional-in-residence is directed to industry and program informational outreach. The PIR participates collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and college. Faculty may be required to teach day, evening, off-campus, and online courses as needed or assigned.

The Technology Management and Mechatronics Department invites applicants for a Professional-in Residence faculty beginning as early as Fall 2026. This position primarily teaches undergraduate mechatronics engineering technology courses, creates instructional materials, directs course projects, and holds regular office hours. The department has a reputation for innovation and faculty excellence.

The department will accept all qualified applications but is particularly interested in applicants with experience knowledge of subject matter and curriculum development pertinent to the field of mechatronics engineering technology (e.g., programmer logic controllers-PLC, advanced manufacturing, engineering, computer science, automation and robotics technology, industrial processes, quality, and reliability and safety, etc.).

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms, online, and laboratories, through demonstration, discussion, visual aids, individualized instruction, lectures, and other appropriate methods or educational delivery.
  • Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials. Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures.
  • Engages service-wise with the community through activities such as community outreach, industry partnering, and curriculum alignment to meet the needs of industry partners.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

  • Relevant master's degree from an accredited institution with industry or teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing.
  • Frequent use of fine-hand manipulation associated with the use of a computer.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of subject matter and curriculum development, including online teaching in the areas of project management, engineering management, and/or technology management.
  • Knowledge of teaching through implementation of appropriate pedagogy, clear presentation, and preparation.
  • Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of development and assessment of curriculum.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques in upper and lower division courses. Knowledge of student management, motivation, evaluation; evaluation of (peer and self) instruction.
  • Knowledge of program and curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of and expertise in current trends in education, engaged learning and service learning, learning technologies (e.g., digital technologies for classroom management and distance education), and public presenting.
  • Knowledge of online teaching environments, such as Canvas or other course management systems.
  • Skills in maintaining professional and ethical academic standards.
