Description
Position Title: Project Accountant
The Project Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the Executive Director of Finance with various accounting functions, particularly in real estate development and general accounting operations. This position requires collaboration with project management and external accounting representatives on special projects and coordination processes. The individual will be responsible for managing detailed financial tasks across multiple projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance. A strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for success in this role. Additionally, the position offers opportunities for professional growth within a supportive team environment.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 / Year DOE
Project Accountant Responsibilities:
- Track construction projects from contract to invoices, including processing change orders and lien waivers
- Prepare monthly draw requests for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
- Maintain internal controls and procedures for financial accounting integrity
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and bank reconciliations for project entities
- Create pro forma cash flow statements and conduct related analyses
- Manage special projects, including tracking contractual obligations and financial ramifications
- Maintain receivable reports based on sales contracts
Project Accountant Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of experience in construction accounting with a general contractor or owner-builder company, or in public accounting
- Proficiency in Excel
- Experience in construction accounting, particularly in homebuilding, land development, and lot closings
- Understanding of job costing
- Knowledge of Construction Integrated Job Cost
- Familiarity with ERP Accounting Software Systems
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Finance may be considered
- CPA is preferred
- Background in construction and public accounting is preferred
