Senior Accountant/Property Accountant
Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations for multiple commercial real estate entities and reporting directly to the Controller and executive leadership. This role will manage monthly financial reporting, cash management, and property accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities

  • Experience with MRI or Yardi accounting software required
  • Prepare financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, journal entries, and comparative financial reports
  • Prepare and analyze cash flow statements
  • Compile financial reporting packages for partners and leadership, including analysis of variances and transactions
  • Assist with preparation and management of annual budgets for multiple entities and partnerships
  • Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, company credit cards, and third-party property accounting
  • Monitor and review all entity bank accounts and manage transfers between accounts
  • Record expenses, accruals, prepaid expenses, and deposits
  • Maintain the general ledger and perform monthly balance sheet and account reconciliations
  • Calculate and track management fee splits for owners and partners
  • Generate invoices and payments related to property management fees
  • Process biweekly payroll, including benefit contributions to third-party administrators
  • Prepare available cash calculations and distribute reports to property managers and owners for review
  • Process EFT payments and vendor invoices
  • Coordinate documentation and support for year-end tax preparation with the CPA firm
  • Lead and coordinate annual audit processes
  • Support investor and ownership reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with property managers, owners, and financial institutions as needed
  • Ensure all accounting activities comply with GAAP standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Experience in real estate development or property management accounting strongly preferred
  • Experience with Yardi or MRI accounting systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $75,000 - $100,000
