Job Description
Job Title: Receptionist
Department: Clinics
Reports To: Practice Manager or Practice Administrator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary:
The Receptionist is responsible for greeting visitors, vendors, employees, and guests in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. This position answers, screens, and transfers incoming telephone calls and assists the front office team by checking-in patients and collecting payment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Checks-in patients and collects payment for services rendered
- Answers, screens, and directs telephone calls
- Greet patients and visitors into the clinic in a prompt, courteous and professional manner
- Obtains demographic and insurance information, copy of patient's insurance cards, and current driver's license for file
- Updates demographic and insurance information as needed in the system
- Maintains lobby area in a neat and orderly manner
- Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office. Covers for other front office function as required
- Special projects as assigned
- All other duties as assigned
Additional Skills and Abilities:
- General knowledge of office practices and organization policies
- General knowledge office policies, procedures, and medical terminology
- Ability to read and interpret various documents and manuals
- Proficiency in computer software applications, including the following programs: Microsoft Dynamics Software, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet, Microsoft WORD Processing, and Internet programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to communicate both effectively and professionally with location staff, physicians, patients, and the general public
- Strong organizational skills; detail-oriented
- Dependable and able to work independently
- Possesses a basic knowledge of mathematics, spelling, and grammar
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of practice and/or patient information
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two or more years' experience in a medical office setting
- Hematology/Oncology experience preferred

None
