Essential Functions
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead recreational programs and community events.
- Manage event logistics, including scheduling, vendors, volunteers, and supplies.
- Assist with marketing and promotion through social media, newsletters, and community outreach.
- Ensure that all programs and events comply with Village safety standards and policies.
- Provide excellent customer service to participants, vendors, and community partners.
- Evaluate program participation and effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Assist with the setup, breakdown, and on-site supervision of events and rentals.
- Assist as directed with various clerical, administrative, and facilities maintenance duties and related tasks.
- Answer department telephones courteously, greet guests professionally, and provide required assistance.
- Create and maintain various spreadsheets.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:
Preferred candidates will have a combination of experience, education, and/or training that would likely produce the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the necessary work.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
Education: A High School Diploma or GED is required; however, coursework in recreation, Sports Management, or a related field is highly preferred.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of professional clerical, administrative and/or facilities maintenance experience, which includes customer service, interaction with the public and records management, is required. Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat DC and be comfortable with learning new technologies. Previous local government experience is highly preferred but not required.
Knowledge of:
Proper business English, grammar, and math
Modern office terminology, software, methods, practices, and procedures
Skill in:
Experience in working with youth, recreation, or community events is highly preferred.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Organize workload, coordinate projects, set priorities, meet critical time deadlines, be accurate, and follow up on assignments with a minimum amount of direction
Ensure quality control while remaining poised and courteous under pressure from tight deadlines or demanding public customers.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, Village Council Members, consultants, the general public, and other potential partner governments
Perform basic math calculations
Learning pertinent rules, regulations, policies and procedures
Clearly communicate and convey information tactfully and impartially
Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
CPR / First Aid Certification preferred or ability to obtain
Must pass a Level 2 background check
Perform other related duties as assigned
License and Certification Requirements
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license upon hire and maintain throughout the length of employment with the Village of Indiantown.
Working Environment
Work is mostly performed outdoors in parks and recreation settings, with occasional work in office environments or other locations. Outdoor work may include exposure to varying weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, humidity, and rain. The noise level is typically quiet in the office and moderately loud during events or field activities.
Subject to frequent contact with the public, including handling inquiries and occasional complaints.
