Job Title
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties at assigned City recreational facility, including supervising established programs for adults and children; distributing, collecting and operating equipment; policing grounds and closing the facility. This job works under close supervision according to set procedures
Examples Of Duties
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Checks in customers, collect payments, and other assigned front desk operations
- Plans and supervises the activities of children and adults at assigned City facility.
- Distributes equipment.
- Posts flyers/pamphlets showing City programs, schedules and monthly calendars.
- May assist in planning and organizing activities of groups as required.
- Utilizes a variety of recreational equipment, and arts and crafts supplies for certain activities.
- Performs various other general duties as required, such as keeping score for athletic leagues, ensuring that lights, equipment and first aid are provided.
- Performs facility closing procedures such as collecting all equipment, turning off lights, securing Recreation buildings, and ensuring that all visitors are out of the facility.
- Polices grounds for potentially dangerous items, such as glass and other sharp objects.
- Maintains a variety of records such as attendance report for determining the number of visitors to facility, activities sheet for showing activities planned for week and month, inventory sheet for equipment, schedules for activities and monthly calendars to show highlight activities at facility.
- May supervise arts and crafts activities as required.
- May help with special events when needed.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
- One year of recreation programming or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
- CPR and AED Certified required.
Supplemental Information
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Group B Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Unavoidable hazards refer to job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
- Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
- Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
- Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
- Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.
