Security Guard
The Security Guard is responsible for providing a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff in a public-school setting. The Security Guard serves as a visible presence on campus, building relationships with students and staff, and respond to incidents and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
Essential duties and responsibilities include maintaining a visible presence on campus to deter crime and promote a sense of safety and security; building relationships with students, staff, and parents to foster trust and communication; providing day-to-day support to staff members about concerns and successes; collaborating with the Principal for counseling and referrals to community resources; responding to incidents, such as fights, trespassers, and other disruptions, and resolving situations peacefully whenever possible; assisting school district authorities and law enforcement with investigating violations as needed; assisting with safety drills and training exercised with students and staff; monitoring and controlling access to school premises; enforcing laws and school rules; consulting with the Principal on student disciplinary action; working with the District Maintenance Supervisor in developing, updating, and communicating the Emergency Response Plan; working cooperatively with district office personnel, administrators, staff, and IT Techs; preparing and submitting required reports; and responsible for attending training sessions related to the school safety program and the Emergency Response Plan.
