Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Reston, VA that is seeking a Senior Accountant.Summary:The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general ledger activities, executing the month-end and year-end close process, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role plays a key part in maintaining accounting controls, supporting audits, and partnering with cross-functional teams to support timely and accurate financial information.Key Responsibilities:

• Own and manage general ledger accounting activities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with GAAP
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies
• Assist with preparation of internal and external financial statements and supporting schedules
• Maintain and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit inquiries
• Partner with FP&A, AP, AR, Payroll, and other teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Identify opportunities to improve close efficiency, automation, and accounting processes
• Mentor and provide guidance to staff or junior accountants, as applicable

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
