Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience designing modular sheet metal structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of advanced fabrication methods, including laser welding techniques, as well as experience designing wall systems and enclosures where sound attenuation principles are critical. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success leading R&D programs from early concept through prototyping and manufacturing. These capabilities will directly support the unique engineering challenges Cencore faces in building secure enclosures and SCIF environments. Prior SCIF experience is not required
Responsibilities:
- Design, Engineer and Prototype secure enclosures and SCIFs that meet or exceed ICD705 requirements and standards.
- Develop and implement solutions for RF energy and STC sound attenuation to ensure the security and confidentiality of information.
- Create detailed technical drawings and CAD models to guide the construction and implementation of secure facilities.
- Design and integrate HVAC, electrical, and security systems into SCIF buildings based on project-specific requirements, performance criteria, and load calculations.
- Deliver manufacturable, stakeholder-aligned solutions by rapidly proving design concepts and driving them to full manufacturing readiness.
- Conduct site assessments and provide recommendations for enhancements or modifications to existing secure enclosures and SCIFs.
- Acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable SCIF and secure facility design standards, with an expectation to rapidly come up to speed on required guidelines and best practices.
- Provide technical expertise and support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Proven ability to design manufacturable components using sheet metal and HSS tubing, optimized for MIG, TIG, and laser welding processes
- Experience leading R&D initiatives from early concept development through prototype iteration, testing, and full manufacturing readiness.
- Understand STC sound attenuation principles and technologies.
- Experience designing or integrating HVAC, electrical, and security systems for facilities with specialized performance or security requirements.
- Proficiency in CAD software and technical drawing capabilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering or in a related field.
- Certification or specialized training in secure facility design and engineering.
- Experience with project management and leading design projects from conception to completion.
- Experience in designing and engineering secure enclosures and SCIFs in accordance with ICD705 requirements
- Familiarity with additional security standards and regulations.
