Responsibilities

Kforce is working with a client in the Saint Louis area to identify a Senior Payroll Specialist. This role will take ownership of end-to-end, multi-state payroll operations. We're looking for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who can navigate challenges independently and drive accuracy and efficiency.Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle, multi-state payroll for salaried, hourly, and clinical staff, including bi-weekly and monthly cycles
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations (taxes, ACA, wage laws, garnishments)
  • Maintain payroll data accuracy within ADP, including employee lifecycle changes and corrections
  • Partner with HR and Finance on benefits, leave management, and payroll alignment
  • Support GL mapping, reporting, and payroll-related reconciliations
  • Oversee state tax accounts, unemployment claims, and related reporting
  • Prepare payroll reports and analysis for audits, budgeting, and leadership insights
  • Manage year-end and quarterly processes (W-2s, 1095-Cs, tax reconciliations)
  • Act as primary point of contact for payroll inquiries
  • Drive compliance, process improvements, and documentation (SOPs)

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of general ledger experience (or equivalent combination)
  • FPC or CPP certification a plus
  • 3-5 years of multi-state payroll experience; Leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax requirements
  • Experience with payroll systems (ADP preferred) and related accounting software
  • Background in payroll tax filings, unemployment, and garnishments
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Able to work independently and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Flexibility to support payroll cycles as needed

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
