Shipping and Receiving Clerk - 1st Shift - 18/hr

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk maintains accurate inventory, supports production by ensuring timely movement of materials, and prepares finished products for shipment in a mid-size manufacturing environment. This role involves hands-on material handling, operation of forklifts and hand trucks, and close coordination with production teams to keep work centers supplied and organized.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate inventory for a manufacturing company by tracking incoming and outgoing materials and finished goods.
  • Identify, label, and place materials and supplies in the correct stock locations.
  • Record inventory locations and update records to reflect current stock positions.
  • Locate and pull materials and supplies based on production orders to support ongoing manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain in-process inventory at work centers to ensure consistent material flow and minimize production delays.
  • Document materials and supplies by recording units delivered and the locations of those units.
  • Prepare finished stock for shipment, including staging, packaging, and labeling as required.
  • Perform pre-inspections and basic maintenance checks on material handling equipment.
  • Operate hand pallet jacks, hand trucks, and lifts to move materials safely and efficiently.
  • Handle shipping and receiving tasks in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including loading and unloading materials.
  • Use RF scanners and basic computer systems to track inventory and shipments, when applicable.
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, and work instructions when working around CNC lasers, CNC mills, press brakes, laser equipment, and welding areas, as needed to support material flow.
  • Work safely around mechanical and electrical assembly areas, maintaining organization of parts and materials.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures while lifting, pushing, and pulling materials up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to resolve inventory discrepancies and improve material handling processes.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial shipping and receiving environments.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Experience operating forklifts and hand trucks.
  • Hands-on material handling experience, including use of hand pallet jacks and lifts.
  • Previous warehouse or shipping and receiving experience.
  • Comfort working around CNC laser, CNC mill, press brake, brake press, laser, and spot welding equipment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and basic mechanical documentation when handling related materials.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical assembly environments.
  • Basic documentation skills to record units delivered and inventory locations accurately.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime after regular shift hours and on weekends when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior warehouse experience supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Previous shipping and receiving experience in a production setting.
  • Experience using RF scanners for inventory tracking.
  • Basic computer usage for data entry and inventory updates.
  • Exposure to set-up of machines such as CNC laser, CNC mill, press brake, and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with spot welding or spot weld environments.
  • Comfort working in both mechanical assembly and electrical assembly areas.

Work Environment

This role is based in a mid-size manufacturing company that operates in the machine-building space. The facility offers a cleaner environment with an older building style and is currently expanding to add more space. The position is for a first-shift opening, working approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional overtime after 3:30 p.m. or on weekends as needed. Most areas operate between 40 and 45 hours per week, while certain areas, such as roller grill operations, may offer additional overtime. The organization supports work-life balance, including a third shift that starts on Monday night to allow employees to enjoy full weekends with their families. Employees may wear one earbud on the floor to listen to their own music, and there are multiple overhead radios throughout the facility. The dress code allows tasteful shirts, shorts, jeans, and similar attire, while prohibiting spaghetti straps, muscle tanks, and similar garments. Steel-toe footwear is not required for this role.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hicksville, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
