Position Summary
The Safety Coordinator helps maintain a safe working environment by conducting jobsite inspections, supporting safety planning, and educating employees on best safety practices. This role works closely with project teams to ensure compliance with all company, local, and federal safety standards.
This is a field-based position, not an office job. The Safety Coordinator will spend the majority of their time on active construction sites performing inspections and interacting with crews.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with jobsite safety pre-planning
- Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations
- Coordinate and purchase safety equipment when needed
- Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents
- Provide ongoing safety training for employees
- Collaborate with subcontractors to maintain safe jobsite practices
- Represent Crossland during OSHA inspections
- Complete 40 hours of safety training annually
Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification required
- Ability to obtain OSHA Trainer status
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexible schedule and willingness to travel to jobsites as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- Construction safety training or internship experience preferred
- CSP or other professional safety credentials preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- This is an active, field-based role on construction jobsites
- Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day while conducting site inspections
- Ability to work in hot and cold outdoor conditions
- Ability to work at heights and navigate active construction sites
