Description
Solid Waste Disposal Assistant
The purpose of this position is to assist the public with disposal of solid waste materials, coordinate material removal with contracted waste company, and maintains a clean working environment for staff and visitors. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures. Some Beaufort County departments maintain more than one office location. Beaufort County reserves the right to transfer employees in both short term and long term capacities to an alternate location at any time for any reason.
Essential Functions
- Opens and closes the convenience site, removes litter, answers phone, fills containers that need emptying and prepare daily reports on site activity.
- Checks entering vehicles for solid waste decals and assists customers with the disposal and recycling of their solid waste.
- Maintains cleanliness of the site.
- Notifies supervisor of activities, violations and hazard.
- Assists citizens as needed.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
- Requires a short demonstration up to and including one month of related experience.
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
