Description
Sr. HVAC Technician
Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various types of process support systems, including but not limited to:
- Process Chillers
- Central AC units
- Stand-alone AC units
- Air make-up units
- Air handlers
- Air Compressors
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies.
- Oversee outside contractors and ensure their safety.
- Treat others with respect, communicate effectively with your team and customers, and abide by company practices.
- Train others within the department.
- Perform daily walkthroughs of Utility Areas to identify items in need of repair.
- Troubleshoot and repair process chillers, central AC units, stand-alone AC units, air make-up units, air handlers, and air compressors.
- Test, maintain, and evaluate equipment performance using appropriate testing equipment.
- Utilize a CMMS to generate and retrieve work orders and requests.
- Expand the existing PM Program for Utility/HVAC systems to ensure maximum reliability.
- Maintain equipment records and logs.
- Utilize various media resources for instructional repairs.
- Order parts and supplies as needed.
- Recommend equipment replacement and/or modifications for improvement.
- Assist with developing and overseeing required contract maintenance services.
- Help PFN meet goals and objectives in Safety, Quality, Operations, and Cost Avoidance.
- Be available for "on call" duty on a rotational basis.
- Perform other duties as necessary when directed.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with compressed air systems repair and maintenance.
- Minimum 10 years of HVAC service experience, including the service of process chillers and cooling towers.
- Current Universal refrigerant license.
- Required Skills:
- Refrigeration recovery/charging.
- Plumbing & Fitting (up to 2" PVC, Copper, and Carbon Steel).
- Solid knowledge of centrifugal pumps.
- Minor welding/brazing/cutting (Stick, TIG, Acetylene).
- Minor rigging tasks.
- Electrical troubleshooting of various HVAC/Utility control systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and make sketches.
- Task prioritization based on operational needs.
- Certification in fork/hand truck and aerial lifts.
- Ability to work independently with little or no direction.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking and standing during an 8-hour shift.
- Constant bending, kneeling, and climbing throughout the shift.
- Frequent reaching overhead and into machines to fix jams.
- Constant pushing and pulling with arms and legs.
- Lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Constant use of hands and occasional use of foot control.
- Operation of roll manipulators, balers, and compactors.
- Daily sweeping and organizing of the floor and work area.
- Participation in a daily pre-shift warm-up routine is required.
