The Student Finance Coordinator (SFC) is a relationship-centered role focused on guiding students and families through the financial aid and payment process with clarity, compassion, and excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a welcoming, knowledgeable first point of contact for student financial questions by phone, email, and in person.
- Provide clear guidance to students and families regarding financial aid options and application processes.
- Stay up-to-date on financial aid policies from federal, state, institutional, and outside sources.
- Review and explain student account activity, including charges, aid, and payment plans.
- Proactively reach out to students who fall behind on payments to help them understand their options and remain enrolled.
- Support online students by helping them set up payment arrangements and preparing them for their program start.
- Provide financial estimates for prospective or current online students seeking schedule adjustments.
- Serve as a backup cashier as needed (processing payments, distributing checks, etc.)
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Assist the Director of Student Financial Services with additional responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job will not be a supervisor of staff, faculty, students, or volunteers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

- Excellent customer service instincts and a patient, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence working with numbers, basic mathematical functions, and financial aid calculations.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn Colleague, Etrieve, Recruit, and other systems.
Additional Information
EDUCATION
A bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Full-time, on-campus role in the Miller Business Center, with potential work in other buildings on campus during special events.
Standard office hours with occasional evening or weekend hours during peak periods may be required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The salary for this position is $16.75/hour and is based on experience and education level.
