Under the supervision of the Membership Services & SRC Administration Supervisor, the Student Membership Services Assistant is responsible for providing patrons and potential patrons with information about classes and events. Considerable on-the-job training provided at hire.
Typical duties include:
- Dispense information to Student Recreation Center (SRC) patrons and potential patrons in person and on the phone regarding SRC programs, classes, intramural sports, services, and special events
- Assists in member registration and verifies membership eligibility
- Solicits and maintains information that may be of benefit to inquiring guests
- Represent the SRC and USU in a professional manner and act as an SRC ambassador at all times with extensive knowledge of the programs, services, and facility
- Maintain positive relationships with members, guests, co-workers, and professional staff
- Relays guest concerns to appropriate personnel
- Stays abreast of information regarding SRC, University Student Union (USU), and University programs and services
- Maintains lost and found items and coordinates drop-off to campus police
- Conducts all financial transactions related to programs, services, classes, intramural sports and special events including completing financial reconciliations
- Facilitates access control
- Facilitates equipment rentals
- Facilitates retail sales
- Maintains confidentiality related to participant information per USU/SRC policy
- Maintains knowledge of all aspects of software and associated equipment
- Conducts tours of the SRC to potential members and guests
- Enforces and communicates SRC and USU policies and procedures
- Assists in initiating immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures (including 911 calls)
- Performs data entry tasks
- Maintains records and prepares reports
- Must attend required SRC and USU employee orientation and trainings as well as department specific trainings and meetings
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
· Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student
Experience and Certifications:
· No previous experience and/or specialized education required
· American Red Cross or department approved First Aid, CPR, and AED certification shall be obtained within 30 days. Training is periodically offered free of charge by the USU. Applicants unable to attend USU-sponsored training are required to obtain certification at their own expense
Other Requirements:
· This position is a sensitive position as designated by the CSU. Following an offer of employment, the appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Supervision:
Supervision is provided by the Membership Services & SRC Administration Supervisor.
Typical Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Daily contact with members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests, is required. In addition to regularly assigned work schedule, must possess an ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, holidays, finals weeks, and during academic interim and break periods; must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
