Substitute Security Technician
Patrol and secure all schools and district-owned property. Protect the company's assets relative to theft, fire, and other safety issues. Respond to alarms and emergencies and communicate with law enforcement, supervisors, and district administrators. Communicate any irregularities with supervisors and communicate with law enforcement, supervisors, and district administrators. Keep incident report records and assist with investigations. Follow procedures for various initiatives including fire prevention, traffic control and accident investigation. Check visitors and staff in and out of the area, when necessary. Escort visitors around the premises, when necessary. Be visible and observant at all times. Maintain OCSD's reputation with professionalism and legal compliance. Collaborate with other security technicians for effective protection and coverage of sites. Request identification and investigate the presence of individuals who appear to be out-of-place based on the time, location, setting, behaviors and circumstances when it appears safe and appropriate to do so. Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities. Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies. Perform other duties as assigned by the School Principal or designated Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness supervisory personnel.
An earned high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. Experience in security or law enforcement is preferred. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports, interview victims and witnesses, and communicate in an emergency as required for the position. Must have a S.C. issued driver's license.
